Why this app exists

The people who can reach you fastest usually live in your own street. Yet there is rarely a way to reach them at that moment. A message in a group needs typing, needs reading, and needs someone who happens to be looking.

VeiligSamen skips all that. You hold one button for two seconds and everyone with the app within 500 metres is alerted, with the distance and a pin on the map. That is all you have to do. If a neighbour wants to come they offer, and you decide whether to accept; otherwise the app stays quiet — no timeline, no membership list, no advertising.

What it deliberately is not

We have left things out on purpose. A neighbourhood app full of messages, photos and arguments eventually gets dismissed — and then it no longer works at the moment that matters.

• No timeline and no social feed. The only things you find again are your own alerts and the conversations that went with them.
• No membership list. You cannot look up who takes part in your street, and nobody can look that up about you.
• No names in an alert. Neighbours see the distance and a pin, not who you are.
• No advertising and no offers.

Who makes it

VeiligSamen is made by Gold Development, a small software company in Rotterdam, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 61213535. VeiligSamen is a trade name and registered word mark of Gold Development.

It is not an initiative of a council, a police force or an insurer; there is no organisation behind it that you have to join. The app is built and hosted in the Netherlands, and the maps come from the Kadaster via PDOK.

How it is paid for

The app is free and stays free for everyone who uses it. There is no advertising, there are no subscriptions and there are no paid features inside the app.

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Gold Development carries the cost of servers and maintenance itself. That limits how fast we can grow, but it keeps the incentives simple: the less we know about you, the less can go wrong.
