VeiligSamen
Protection when you need it.
Hold the SOS button down and neighbours nearby who have the app are alerted straight away, with your location. Whoever can come says so; you decide who to accept. A neighbourhood watch app with no group chat and no membership list: one button, for the moment you need it.
How it works
No group chat, no list of addresses. One SOS button: neighbours nearby are alerted, and whoever can come says so.
- 1
Hold the SOS button down for two seconds.
- 2
Neighbours nearby who have the app are alerted straight away, with your location; whoever can come offers to help.
- 3
Press 'I am safe' when it is over. If you do not answer, the app asks whether you are safe.
What we do and do not do
VeiligSamen asks for only what it needs to alert your neighbours.
We do
- Use your location while you are using the app — and during an active SOS in the background too, so neighbours can see where you are now
- Show neighbours the distance; your name only once you accept someone
- Let you say when it is over; if you go quiet, we ask you
We do not
- Use your location in the background, unless you switch that on yourself
- Touch your contacts
- Show advertising
Who it is for
For anyone who wants to keep neighbourhood watch simple: neighbours who can alert each other, with one button.
A neighbourhood
The more neighbours have the app, the likelier someone within 500 metres sees your alert.
A street
It works with a handful of households too: whoever is nearby is alerted.
A residents' association
A simple arrangement for the block or the district, with nothing to administer and no group chat.
Questions that come up often
How far does an alert reach, does it work when the app is closed, and do neighbours see your name? The answers are in one place.
- How close does someone have to be?
- Does it work when the app is closed?
- Do neighbours see my name?
- Does the app use much battery?
